ThoughtSeed is a founder-led systems studio. Most software ships as scaffolding — a demo that photographs well and buckles the moment it meets the real requirement. We work in reverse: study the requirement until it stops surprising us, build the one system that answers it, and hand it back in a form you can run without us in the room.
No vanity metrics. No dependency dressed up as a deliverable. The engineering shows in what holds — not in what shouts.

I’m Shesh Iyer, a systems architect, builder and writer. I co-founded Thoughtseed in 2020 with Mohan. We work on software, interfaces, AI workflows and connected products, starting with the requirement and carrying the work through to a usable handoff.
Alongside the studio, I’m building Tryambakam Noesis: software, essays and narrative experiments for examining how we notice, interpret and choose. The Why Chromosome is the publication; Synchronocities holds the essay archive and interactive tarot travelogue.
Across both, I care about what a system helps someone do, the assumptions it carries and whether they can understand it well enough to make it their own. AI assists the making. I remain responsible for the claims, the design choices and what gets published.

Consciousness is a given — it happens to you, like weather. Self-consciousness is a practice: the technology that lets you examine the examiner. Inherited patterns run as legacy code — culture, conditioning, default. The work is reading that code at source, and beginning to write it.
Engines, One Grammar
Symbolic-computational tools bring several traditions into a shared framework. Each is a lens with its own assumptions. The work is examining the grammar behind a tool, what it makes visible and what it leaves out.
The Kha-Ba-La Triad
The governing grammar — architecture, not metaphor. Kha sees the pattern. Ba walks it. La is the friction that makes the walking real. All Kha is philosophy; all Ba is exercise; all La is stuck. The triad co-arises, or it does not arise at all.
The Quine
The software explores symbolic frameworks as tools for reflection. Its results are interpretations to examine, with assumptions to question. The design aim is independence: the system succeeds when you no longer need it.
